If you where tally would you have asked the warden to make you pretty?

Yes i would have just to confuse him. Also if she says that the warde would tell doctor Cable and she will turn her as soon as she got there.

Blog # 51

Tally has finally come clean. Do you think she will regret it? Do you think David will change his mind about her?

I don't think she will regret it and I don't think David will change his mind about her because he didn't really even believe her at first when she told him that she was the cause of all of these problems. And once you love somone you cant just change your mind not to have feelings for them anymore.

Should Maddy have forced Shay to take the cure? Why or why not?

Yes, but also no. I mean she dosnt know if it is safe so if she killed her it would have made her feel really guilty because she forced her agianst her ow will.

Blog #49

If you were Shay, would you get the cure? Why or why not?

If i were Shay i would get the cure, but i don't think Shay is aware that the surgery can cause brain lesions. I think the operation programed her to believe that there is nothing wrong with her.

Blog # 48

Respond to the following quote from the chapter...what does it mean to you? "Talle thought of the lesions on Shay's brain, the tiny cancers or wounds or whatever they are that she didn't even know she had. They were in there somewhere changing her friend's thoughts, warping her feelings, gnawing at the roots of who she was."

I think it means that since the lesions operation were changing the way she thought and who she was.

Give a chronological list of important events in the chapter. What's the kicker at the end of the chapter?

Tally and David knock Dr. Cable out.
They rescue the smokies from Special Circumstances.
They escape through the roofs on their hoverboards, to get away.
The kicker is that Maddie tells David his father is deadd.

Is this quote a play on words, or does it have a deeper meaning to the story? "Radiology. Neurology. Magnetic Imaging," she read softly. "Operating Theatre Two."

I think it has a deeper meaning to the story because it sounds like thats what you go through in the operating rooms.

What labels do Tally and David find in the Special Circumstances building? Give a brief description of what you think each means.

Radiology: The rooms where the radio waves for the operation are stored.

Neurology: The room where they study the science of the nerves and how to fix the face.

Magnetic Imaging: The room where they take a picture of the current face and add the changes to it from the neurology to see what the yperson will look like.

Operating Theatre Two: The room where the surgery occurs.

Describe Shay's appearance at the end of the chapter using textual evidence>

"Shay was tall and elegant. Her eyes were copper, gold, deep, and soulful. And had every perfect feature. Shay was pretty."

In this chapter a few Uglies go to New Pretty Town to do a "trick." They make the words "THE SMOKE LIVES" with sparklers. If you had ONE chance to post a message important to you, what would it be and why?

My one message would be "live like your dying" because i belive that you should treat your last day like it was your last one. Any day you could die so ehy not be prepaired or living life with regrets.

Blog #44

The Uglies that met in this chapter are similar to Tally at the beginning of the book. When you compare her to these Uglies, how has Tally changed and what has made her change?

Tally has changed now because she isn't afraid of adventure anymore and she doesn't care about being pretty as much as she used to. I think David and his parents made her change partly.

Blog #43

Do you think Tally's plan will work? David wants to save his parents, but what's driving Tally? do you think she is crazy, or are her feelings valid?

I think Tally's plan will work because she seems so determined for it to. I think the thing that's driving Tally is either her guilt, or her will to get her friendship back with Shay. I think her feelings are valid because she likes David a lot, so she wants to help him.

Blog #42

How do David and Tally describe the Rusties? Is it accurate?

They say it it stupid and crazy, but that's not totally accurate
What are the weaknesses of our society?

The weaknesses of our society are money, violence, pollution, and the stock market.

What are the weaknesses of their society?

Their weakness was the oil plague.

Find information and a picture about a time we weren't prepared. Post the information and cite it.

http://www.randomhouse.com/features/isaacsstorm/ Isaacs Storm. Galveston, Texas, awakened on September 8, 1900, on its way to becoming the most prosperous city in the nation, brimming with activity, commerce, and confidence. The following morning, it was a city decimated and humbled by nature, its businesses and homes unrecognizable, its hope swept away by what is still the deadliest weather disaster in American history. http://www.randomhouse.com/features/isaacsstorm/art/house.jpg

Describe the irony in Tally's "victory" over Dr. Cable. What was lost in the process?

The ironic thing is that tally thinks that she she has won or accomplished something that Dr. Cable hasn't. She has lost some of her friends in the process.

blog #39

Is David right? Is Tally amazing? Do you think she should be feeling guilty? Why or why not?

I don't think Tally is amazing. She has made some big mistakes and so yes I think she should be feeling guilty.

blog # 38

Who is the voice in the dark? Do you think it will be a friend or enemy to Tally? What do you think Tally will do now?

I think the voice is a special. The enemy, because they have covered evry square inch of the town so it is most likely one of them.

Explain what self preservation means to you. Is it the most important thing? Would you lie because of it?

To me, self preservation means taking care of yourself so that no harm or destruction is done. It is one of the most important things because you need to keep yourself out of harm and danger at all times. I would not lie about it because no one would like a liar.

Tally had changed her mind about the Smoke and the operation, but what will she do about all that now? Whose side is she on?

I think she is on the Smokes side and she is gonna try to help the Smoke and David.

Blog #35

Is this the climax of the story? Explain why or why you don't think so in a few sentences.

Yes, I think this is the climax of the story because Special Circumstances has just arrived. It has been building up in the whole entire story until this point.

blog #34

Read the following quote David says to Tally. "What you do, the way you think makes you beautiful." Name one person in you personal home life and one in your academic life (you may leave them nameless if you wish)... What makes this person beautiful?

Academic: I think all my teachers are beautiful they are all good to me and try there best to help me comprehend me.

Personal: He is so sweet and nice, he listens to everything i say and try's to understand everything i say to him. He means the world to me and i don't want to let him go.

Respond to the following quote, what does it mean to you/to the story? "Becoming pretty doesn't just change the way you look... it changes the way you think." How would you want to change mentally and physically if you were pretty?

It means that when you become pretty, you get good looks, but you get a new way of thinking. The only things I would really want to change would be to make me me tollerate people ad to get so mad easily, and not be so loud.

blog #32

What does the following quote tell you about the city and society in general? "But you do know about genetics don't you? Sure I know all about genes. I knew two sisters, uglies, who looked almost the same. But parents and children? That's just weird."

This tells me that it's not common for parents and children to look alike. Also, the city changes people so much that they aren't even recognizable anymore.

Predict what you think being "pretty" is.

I think being pretty is getting good looks, but loosing your own way of thinking. And the way you function.

Find an example of imagery, personification, simile. Quote directly and give page numbers.

Imagery: "In the valley below, the orchids glowed with pale malevolence in the moonlight, a frozen sea against the dark shore of the forest." Pg. 245

Personification: "Tally looked away, trying to drown her in uncanny pretty feelings in the sea of white weeds." Pg. 245

Simile: "He took the world more seriously than any ugly she'd ever met- more seriously, in fact, than middle pretties like her parents." Pg. 246

Does it require bravery to meet David's parents? Why or why not?
Yes it does require bravery because she has never met them before and she doesn't really know what they are going to be like.

blog #30

Do you think Shay has a right to be jealous of Tally? Why or why not?

I think she does have a right to be jealous because shay was with David first and he gave Tally a gift that he could have given her.

Tally received a gift from David in the chapter that is special. Have you ever received something that made others jealous as this gift did? Did your gift have a meaning behind it as Tally's did?

Yes, on my 13th birthday my dad gave me a 300 dollar visa and my grandparents got me a 500 dollar visa. My sister was jelouse because my grandparents had give her 50 dollars less then me.i could tell because she got mad and wouldn't talk to me(wich didn't really bother me, i actually liked it). And she also kept saying that they loved me more an i was spoiled when i spent all my money on a new phone and clothes.

blog #29

Why would it have been easier for Tally to activate the pendant when she got to the smoke? Explain.

I think it would have been easier to activate it because Tally wouldn't be feeling so guilty if she had and she wouldnt have developed feelings for the smokies.

"She wished she'd activated the pendant the moment she'd gotten there. In only one day she'd realized that it wasn't just Shay's dream she was betraying. Hundreds of people had made life in the "smoke." Pg.#225

Blog # 28

If David's parents were doctors, why do you think they ran away? Support your answer with textual evidence.

I think they ran away because they either wanted to try to find "smoke", so that they could live there or they didnt agree with the opperation.

"They are doctors." "Huh. But...hang on. Doctors? How old were they when they ran away?" "Old enough. They weren't uglies anymore. I think its called being a middle pretty?"
