"What do you think about Shay's description of a model? They have a skewed view of our time, but what have they got right?"

They have right that the girls starve there selves because its "beautiful". But really its not, and in magizines they have girls that are ugly but in our time they are not considered ugly.

Have you ever made yourself do somthing that you didnt want to do but you knew you had to?
Yes, I have.
Running, in athletics i was really tired beacause the night before I had stayed up untill midnight. But if i stopped the coaches would have yelled at me.

Predict what will happen next.
I think that Tally will make it to the smoke. But when she gets there she will relize that she missed Shay to much. Therefor she is going to stay in the smoke, and be to scared to rat Shay out in the end.She will most likley end up staying there.

"Everywhere she went, eyes looked away. But it was the most visible she'd ever felt."
I think that Tally means this by how everyone is noticing her but she doesn't want them to. She was sure that the authorities had said something to all the new uglies but, want sure what.

Tally arrived at a building that was ugly. She then walked into this ugly room with a cruel pretty sitting at the table. The cruel pretty, Dr. Cable, then asks her about Shay, Tally then hesitates and cant think of many ways to answer the questions about Shay running away. Dr. Cable soon claims that she is trying to help Shay and her old friends because they have never found any of them. Tally seems to not been intimidated from this. Tally didn't want to cooperate at this still. So Dr.Cable threated that if she didn't cooperate she would NEVER be able to turn pretty.

Tally was waiting for the hover-car, she soon comes upon another new ugly, this brings back memories of her and Shay she thinks of things they used to do together. Then she thinks of how Shay left. The hover-car comes and picks Tally up. All Tally had was a small duffel bag full of random items that she just threw in the bag. After a few hours of agonizing waiting. A big man comes over an tells her there is going to be complications with the surgery.

"We don't have to look like everyone else, Tally, and act like everyone else. We've got a choice. we can grow up anyway we want."

This to me means that we get to choose the way we grow up. and that we have a choice, that we don't have to think, act, or look like any of the other people. We should have our own looks, and our own thoughts. We should also be able to look the way we want to. If we all looked pretty noone would truly be pretty.

The two fights that were presented in this chapter the first fight was over the book, to scare the new uglies. Shay pretended that she knocked Tally of one of the higher library floors, Tally then fell into a bungee cord laughing. Tally and shay where both running away as fast as they could down to the ocean to celebrate. Shay and Tally both then start talking about becoming pretty. Shay then goes off on tally and they get into a big fight and stop talking for about a week. The first fight was a fake fight and the second one was real which is there differences.

"that was one thing about being outside the city: it made all that nature stiff they taught in school seem alot more useful. She remembered how rainwater fell on the mountains and soaked into the ground..."

Tally thought that there was no use into knowing all of the stuff they learned at the school. She realizes that the city stuff is way more technical than the other city's.

Pg.61 "The Rusty Ruins"
Tally and Shay go to the Ruins Tally gets on the roller coaster and Shay didn't tell her about the fall or the gap in the roller coaster. Tally gets mad at Shay for it, and goes to sit on a rock. Tally asked Shay how she knew about all this stuff about the Ruins. Shay said that she wanted Tally to meet someone, that is not in town- he is in the Ruins.

Similes:
"The rusties had been stuck down in these streets like a horde of rats trapped in a burning maze" Pg. 61

"Every building sported jagged spurs of metal sticking from its broken walls, like bones jutting from a long dead animal." Pg. 62

"I kind of like being fooled about some things."
Yes, I agree with Tally. If i knew everything I wouldn't be able to believe in anything. Like being fooled when you where younger about the tooth fairy. Its fun to believe in things you know that there is no possible way they can exist but it is still fun.

White Water Rafting.
"It is interesting to note that whitewater rafting was one of the earliest forms of transportation. It was not only used for carrying people but also for transferring goods from one place to another. However, it became quite popular as a form of leisure activity in the 1980s.

In 1811, the first recorded attempt to navigate the Snake River in Wyoming was planned by the Overland Astorians. While attempting to boat the stretch below Jackson Hole, the river was found to be too treacherous and it came to be called Mad River."

"Making ourselves feel ugly is not fun."
This means that she is tired of the things when people say she is ugly, she doesn't want to make herself feel ugly.
"This whole game is designed to make us hate ourselves"
Shay is saying this because she thinks the game is just pointing out there imperfections.
"Everyone judged everyone else base on their appearance. people who were taller got better jobs... People killed one another over stuff like having different skin color,"
This is talking about back when they killed over racial discrimination, and people judged by the way people looked.
"Its the only way to make people equal."
Tally is talking about everyone being turned pretty, she is saying that if they didnt get turned pretty there wouldn't be equals.

on 38-40 he is on a hover board.

The new pretties don't go back to ugly ville because they are "to good" and "too pretty" to. The other reason they don't go back to ugly ville is because they wait there whole life for the operation and why would they want to go back to there past when they have a better present.

What have i learned about Shay?
i think Tally and Shay are allot alike, they both miss there friends in The New Pretty Town. I think they are going to become best friends and that they are going to get in trouble together.

Pg. 23 summery.
Tally was sneaking out of New Pretty Town when she heard a noise. She quickly froze up, after a few minuets of complete stillness, she decided that she was just going to fess up, "im sorry" she said, then realized that the girl she was saying it to was an ugly to. tally explained what had happened and Shay, the other ugly girl, had told Tally she was in New Pretty Town to spy on her old friends.
